Introducing the Point Arena Pinto T-shirt!!!

I am very excited to show you our new Pinto item for sale.  Long sleeved T-shrits, medium light gray ( color will look different on different monitors), which are made with a nice soft fabric. A few people have them already and really like them!

The front has the Pinto logo which is of Majestic's face and his mother's pinto design in the background.

The back has my favorite photo of Thunder, prancing proudly through the meadow:

The unisex sizes for sale are

Adult - small, medium, large, extra large, 2x large and large youth.

They are being sold at the Pinto event (see the post for August 19th) at a  special discount price of 

$20.00 for all sizes except the 2x large which is $25.00.

Sweetie is now a riding horse!

Sweetie and Suki were down at Kathe Smothers' ranch in Southern California for the past few months. This is the first time he has been ridden at the ranch since he came home. Kendra one of the Pinto human family is riding him.   Quite amazing the work Kathe has done with him - when they first met he was a wild yearling!

Point Arena Pinto Event and Raffle Update

We have some new donations for the raffle from two local artists.
Cate Carry creates beautiful small horse statues and she uses real mane hair for their tale and mane.  Sweetie and Suki donated some of their hair for the sculptures. She is donating two to the event.  One will be part of the raffle and the other will be part of our silent auction.

Jeani Martini not only donated a lovely giclee print of a painting she did of two black and white pintos to the raffle, but she recently made another donation of anothergiclee print of her painting of two brown and white pintos.  This second one will be included in the silent auction.

Don't forget also included in the raffle are:
1) a one hour lesson with our wondeful horse gentler, Kathe Smothers.The lesson would be on a different day and with your horse.
2) A ride in the ATV over to see Thunder, mares,  new colt Majestic and super punk/rock star Otumwa!

Sweetie, Kathe and Obstacle Course

We have had a lot of fun recently with our lovely horse gentler, Kathe Smothers, http://quietmindhorsemanship.com/.  She set up an obstacle course for us to use with the horses.

Thunder

Thunder is the lead stallion of the pinto herd and has been on the coast for his whole life. We are not sure his age but the best guest is he is over 20.  In the above photo he is standing on the bluff above Highway 1 looking very regal where he is admired by people when they drive by.

When I first met him he had a pretty bad reputation as the fence on the property he was living on was down. He would get into trouble wandering around the neighborhood.  However things have changed for him and so he has changed!  He now lives on a totally fenced in property, gets extra food regularly and does not have such a large herd to be responsible for anymore.  He is much calmer and very happy.  He has adjusted to humans, although we cannot touch him, we can hand feed him carrots. 

I absolutely adore him and he has so much love in his eyes when we are with him. 

He is too old to be gelded so he would die. He still produces babies with the two mares that live with him.  If we took the mares away and brought them next door to our property, he would break the fence down to get to them. Horse instinct to breed is very strong, so in this case we must let nature takes its course.  

His herd is smaller because we have the other stallions from the original herd, now geldings, living on our side of the fence.  When the new colts and fillies are a year old we also bring them over here and the colts are gelded at the appropriate age so they cannot breed.
